McKim Mortgage and our loan officers are proud members of the Washington Association and National Association of Mortgage Professionals (WAMP and NAMP).  Greg McKim is President Elect 2009 for the King County WAMP Chapter.

 

WAMP and NAMP are dedicated to insuring the public has access to a wide range of ethical lending sources.  To this end WAMP and NAMP require high ethical standards for broker members, provide member education, and advocate for consumer beneficial legislation.

Freddie Mac

As of September of 2008 Freddie Mac became a government controlled entity.  It was originally chartered in 1970 by Congress to increase the supply of funds that mortgage lenders, such as commercial banks, mortgage bankers, savings institutions and credit unions can make available to homebuyers and multifamily investors.

Fannie Mae

Fannie Mae was created in 1938, under President Franklin D. Roosevelt, at a time when millions of families could not become homeowners, or risked losing their homes, for lack of a consistent supply of mortgage funds across America.

 

The government established Fannie Mae in order to expand the flow of mortgage funds in all communities, at all times, under all economic conditions, and to help lower the costs to buy a home.  The U.S. Government took control of Fannie Mae in September of 2008.

 

Their site provides consumer information and tools for home financing.

Federal Reserve Board Consumer Information

The Federal Reserve Board maintains a web page with consumer information, including a section on home mortgages. The section covers topics such as finding the best mortgage and understanding ARMs.

 
Mortgage Bankers Association of America Consumer Information

The Mortgage Bankers Association of America represents banks.  Their consumer information site contains several tools and guides to aid in purchasing or refinancing a home.
